Sword Care
At Middleborne Arms, we make your swords and weapons to be durable. The Squirely Arms brand is built especially to hold up to a great deal of the abuse a young Knight-in-training can throw at it.
However, this product is still made of wood, and as such when subjected to enough stress, it is likely to be damaged or break.
To take care of your Middleborne Arms sword, we recommend the following:
1. Do not allow for prolongued exposure to the elements. The swords are oiled and finished to withstand some exposure to water and the elements. If wet, wipe dry as soon as possible to prevent water damage to your sword.
2. Periodically re-finish the sword. The finish will eventually wear or be damaged and need to be reapplied. Sand area lightly with a high grit sandpaper(180-220), then apply a couple coats of polyurethane or lacquer, following all instructions given on the finishes themselves.
3. Use appropriately. Middleborne Arms swords are not meant to withstand impacts on rock and concrete, lightning strikes, being run over by cars, or as a bike ramp for a little daredevil. They are meant to be used in sparing with other Middleborne Arms swords, or for vigorous imaginative play. Except for the Kingly Arms, those are for display and costume wear purposes only.
